IEEE Xtreme 7.0

Our IEEE SB arranged for the IEEE Xtreme7.0 programming contest on 26th October 2013.The event was  coordinated by our coordinator Prof. A Darwin Jose Raju, our Counsellor Prof. C John Moses and WIE faculty advisor Prof. A.Subitha.

As per the scheduled IST timing, the event started at 5.30am.There were in total 15 teams from various disciplines. The teams named rockerz, iconz,trogans,spartanz,electronic electricals ,etc enthusiastically participated in the programming event. The event contained around 23 questions related to the various fields in computing. The questions of IEEEXtreme were sponsored by various organisations such as Lenovo, IEEE Women in Engineering, IEEE Computer Society, etc. All the students were deeply involved in solving the set of challenging algorithmic programming problems. The participants experienced effective team work with fun endorsed in it. The event ended successfully at 5.30am the next morning.

STEP'13

Our IEEE SXCCE SB conducted the prestigious Student Transition and Elevation Program STEP '13 on 28th September, 2013 at Rock Auditorium. Around 79 members from various colleges including Annai Vellankanai College of Engineering, Ponjesly college Of Engineering, Maria College of Engineering, Marphram College of Engineering and Cape Institute of Technology participated in this program. The STEP'13 was sponsored by IEEE GOLD Madras Section. The inaugural function started at 9am with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries.

The gathering was welcomed by our SB coordinator Mr. A. Darwin Jose Raju, Chairman, IEEE GOLD AG, Madras Section. Then, our correspondent, Rev.Fr.A.Jesu Marian gave a brief presidential address mentioning IEEE making networking possible breaking all the horizons. Then our principal, Dr.S.Joseph Sekhar felicitated the program giving appreciation saying IEEE as the most active group in our college. Our alumni guest Mr.Jeffrin Rex, Functionality Expert, DigitaCampus who was the immediate passed IEEE SXCCE SB chairman gave us an inspirational speech on active volunteering and leadership qualities in IEEE. A memento was presented to the alumni guest as a token of our gratitude. The inaugural session ended with the vote of thanks given by our WIE faculty advisor Prof.A. Subitha.

The morning session began at 10a.m. with spitting of the teams into 9 groups consisting of members from different colleges. Then the teams were named after the colors and where guided by our GOLD members. 

The morning session ended at 1pm with lunch served. Then the afternoon session started with introduction to the chief guest, Mr. Arun Gladwin, Vintage by our branch counselor Prof.C.John Moses.The dignities were welcomed and honored b Mr.Jenil.J, Chairman IEEE SXCCE SB.

 The afternoon session was made interesting by chief guest talk on "Positive and Negative Attitude". The talk emphasized on the attitude management, gaining positive attitude and many more. The session energized all those who were present. As the session got over feedback was collected about the event and suggestions were asked to improve the event next time.

IEEE WIE Madras Section Leadership meet on September 14th, 2013

                                       On September 14th, I got a privilege to attend the IEEE WIE Madras Section Leadership meet at SRM Easwari Engineering College, Chennai. Had a great chance to meet Mrs.Ramalatha Marimuthu, the Chairperson of IEEE WIE madras Section. The session conducted by Ramalatha Mam was so useful.

                                        The brainstorming session was so interesting and provided a platform to expose our ideas. The event was very much useful to improve our networking. The newly selected IEEE WIE Madras Section volunteers was introduced and i got a chance to join hands with Activities Committee. Our committee members discussed about the forthcoming activities and duties were allocated for each member of our committee. The event ended with our team snap :)

Teachers Day Celebration of IEEE SXCCE

On September 5 of every year, the teacher and students will celebrate teacher’s day. The teacher’s day celebration is to appreciate and thank teachers. It is celebrated by all teachers around the world and it is an honour occasion. Our IEEE student branch also celebrated this event. Our event started around 11:45 a.m.

Most of the members came to celebrate the event.  IEEE SB Co-Ordinator Prof.Darwin Jose Raju, IEEE SB Councellor Prof.John Moses, IEEE WIE faculty advisor Mrs.Subitha and IEEE ED-SOC faculty advisor Prof.Seldev Christopher were invited for the celebration who attended wholeheartedly.

An IEEE member gave a short introduction about teacher’s day, which was inspiring and another shared her experience with teachers. Our professors showed us the way to achieve success in our life. The professors were presented with small gift and at the end there was a cake cutting by our professors. Chocolates were distributed with motivational words for each student. Every one who participated in the event joined with full enthusiasm. Finally the celebration was over at 12:30 p.m.

Inauguration of IEEE SXCCE on 6th Sept 2013

                   The formal inauguration of IEEE SXCCE SB was held on 6^th Sept 2013 at IEEE cabin. The inauguration started at 3.30pm with the code of ethics by Ms.Bincy of third year. The code of ethics followed with welcome address by Ms.Jeni Christy, Vice-chairman WIE Affinity group SXCCE SB.

                The inauguration was held with the Chief presence of Mr.Darwin Jose Raju, Co-ordinator IEEE SB, Mrs.Subitha, faculty advisor WIE Dr.Seldev Christopher as the chief guest of the inauguration. Our chief guest Dr.Seldev Christopher,co-ordinator Education Society of IEEE SXCCE SB gave the special address. He talked about the importance of Education Society and the ideologies of IEEE which made us still more informed about the IEEE. Mr.C.John Moses, Counselor IEEE SB, introduced the IEEE office bearers of the academic year 2013-14, which was followed by introduction to WIE Affinity group office bearers by Mrs.A.Subitha, faculty advisor WIE Affinity group then Dr.Seldev Christopher, faculty advisor, Education Society, introduced office bearers of Education Society.

                  Appointment letters were given to all the office bearers by our    co-ordinator. 

                 

Taking the oath of commitment

           Mr.J.Jenil, Chairman, IEEE SXCCE SB took the oath of commitment along with other office bearers. The Annual plan of IEEE SB was read by Ms.Aarthi Arunkumar, Secretary IEEE SB. Ms. Tania Susan Tom, Secretary, WIE Affinity group, read the Annual plan for WIE, then was followed by MS.Devi Priya, reading annual plan for Education Society. This was followed by the presidential address by Mr.Darwin Jose Raju, co-ordinator IEEE SXCEE.

                The formal session of the inauguration ended and continued with the Technical Talk as the part of TechGlanz’13 which was judged by our judges. Around 11 papers were selected for the final round of technical talk. As a gratitude of words of thanks were given by Ms.B.Rubika , Chairperson, WIE Affinity group. The celebration ended at 5pm with refreshment to all present.

Microsoft TECHDAYS'13 on 6th Feb 2013

                                           On 6^th February 2013, me and my friend Aby got a chance to attend the TECHDAYS’13 organised by Microsoft at Hotel Le Meridian, Coimbatore. We both boarded the Coimbatore Express at around 9 pm and start our travel. We became closer after this travel. We were discussing about the new technologies and expressed our area of interest.

We were surprised to see the grandness of the event. We enjoyed a lot technically. Joseph Landes, General Manager, DPE, Microsoft India handled the session. We were given the ideas of developing Windows 8 Apps. The event ended around 5.30pm. We had a walk around Le Meridian and enjoyed its elegant beauty. Around 8pm we boarded our bus to home. Had unforgettable moment there.
