Rainbow Project (13-03-2013)

The main objective of this project is “Bringing together technical knowledge from the learned and application of this knowledge in rural areas”. With the guidance of  IEEE-Student Branch co-ordinator Prof.A.Darwin Jose Raju and IEEE- Student Branch counselor Prof.C.John Mosses  and WIE faculty Prof.Subitha, the affinity group had its meeting regarding the project for 2 times. During the same we had discussions regarding the events to be held and respective persons to organize the tasks were chosen and hence members were splitted into groups for each class. Totally there were 7 groups.
Explaining the functioning of Windmill to cute kids

As such we selected St.Josephs Middle school located in Kutakuzhi for implementing our project. It was a serious discussion about engaging those students in various events and mentor them. Suggestions were asked from the members and faculties.
As planned we reached St.Josephs Middle school on13th march 2013.Around 35 members reached the school from our Student Branch along with the faculties at about 9:30am. About 120 children were studying in the school. Each group went to their respective classes to start the competitions. Students welcomed us with great enthusiasm and also participated actively.  Competitions like filling the bottle, drawing, singing, elocution, musical chair and some more spot events were conducted for the respective classes. Winner and the 1st runner up were chosen from each event.

Also we had a science project done by our college students for those children. The main objective of the exhibition was that the children will extract better knowledge at science, plus they'll gain or practice several other scientific skills. We were granted fund for rainbow project from IEEE Madras Section. We bought pen, chocolates and toys for those children from the same and gifted them.
